Native Pollinators of the Triad

Through my practice, I’ve grown especially drawn to the layering of colored pencil as a way to build depth and clarity. This process allows me to translate the vibrant colors I observe while studying native North Carolina pollinators into work that invites close looking. I am currently creating work that explores the colors, details, and quiet sense of wonder found in pollinators native to our local area, with the goal of drawing attention to both their beauty and the importance of their conservation. Each of these drawings I create are of pollinators that I see in my personal garden or in the visiting gardens throughout the Triad. Select pieces are on view at Studio 136 in High Point and at the Center for Visual Arts in Greensboro (February–April 2026).
